He Is Not My Own

Our kids are only on loan to us for such a short time. They belong to God and He entrusts us with them while we are on Earth, so we wanted to make known publicly our commitment to Him to raise Asher in a Christian home. We'll do our best teaching him godly principles and are believing God to use him in big ways - He already has as Asher has been such a blessing to so many people already in his short life. And his story is a great reminder to us all how God adopted us, accepts us as we are, and loves us unconditionally.

Then a few weeks later we had Asher blessed at the same church that Steve was raised in and his father is a pastor there, as well. It was a special time as Charlie has blessed all five of his grandchildren in that church...

Steve's sister gave this necklace to me. It reads, "We searched the world for you" and Asher's name is on the small circle charm. I love it so much!

This is a sweet card a family friend made for us - looks just like Asher!

Our family is so very thankful for all who prayed for our adoption journey and for those that continue to pour into Asher's life. We look forward to seeing what great things this little guy will accomplish!

I had so much fun decorating Asher's room before we left for Uganda, then filled it with knick-knacks and craft items we found while in-country. Here's the "before" pic - it used to be Mackenzie's girly room...

He seems to like it and enjoys playing with his new toys - especially cars and trains and he loves to read books.  So fun having a little guy to love in our home ;-)

A New Normal

Well - we've been trying to figure out our new "normal" with Asher in our lives. He has brought a new level of noise and boisterousness to our home ;-)  He's all boy, eats constantly, and is on the go at all times! He loves cars, trains, and balls. His language is increasing & he's putting 3 and 4 words together to form sentences. Mackenzie & Abby have been so good with him. They like to get him up in the morning and change his diaper, get him dressed, feed him breakfast, and help him brush his teeth. They are such good little mamas. Here's a few pics of what life has been like for us since we've been home...

So many people have told us how Asher just "fits" into our family and we have to agree. It's like he's been there all along. They also tell us what a blessed boy he is but we consider ourselves to be the blessed ones. He's been such a joy and we are so thankful to God for bringing him into our home.
