Our timeline for Asher's adoption...

December 19, 2013 - Court date for adoption finalization

October 2, 2013 - Received court date for finalization

August 2013 - Filed for court to finalize adoption

April 24, 2013 - Arrived in Tulsa at 5:45 pm. After 8 long weeks, home at last!!!

April 23, 2013 - Picked up Asher's VISA @ 4 pm; Flew home at midnight

April 22, 2013 - Had our exit interview at the US Embassy & were told Asher was approved for his VISA

April 19, 2013 - Received Asher's passport

April 15, 2013 - Received the verbal ruling of legal guardianship & began the passport process

March 14, 2013 - Asher's court date

March 7, 2013 - Asher's Gotcha Day ;-)

February 27, 2013 - Our family of four left for UG

January 22, 2013 - Received our court date: March 14, 2014!

January 11, 2013 - Heard from Give1Save1 that our family will be the "featured family of the week" on their website for the week of February 4th! Also, received the report from our private investigator that Asher is truly adoptable and no other family members are able to care for him. Still hoping to hear a court date soon! Love good news days like today!

December 12, 2012 - Mailed our dossier and notarized affidavits to UG! Now we wait for a court date!

November 9, 2012 - Accepted referral for Asher!

November 7, 2012 - Received our notice of "Favorable Determination of Orphan Petition" - home study and fingerprints were approved!

November 4, 2012 - Learned of Asher, a 1 1/2 year old boy. May be a match? Praying about it! ;-)

October 24, 2012 - Resubmitted home study to USCIS

October 4, 2012 - Sad day - learned that Reagan has an uncle that wanted him and we can no longer adopt him. Sad for us, good for him :-/

September 5, 2012 - Good news: Biometrics at Homeland Security AND "officially" matched with 2 year old, Reagan! Bad news: Our home study was declined and considered "incomplete" because of 2 minor items being left off

August 16, 2012 - Received our appointment times for fingerprints

July 31, 2012 - Mailed our I600-A form and home study to Homeland Security

June 12, 2012 - Our home study was approved

May 19, 2012 - Our first home visit

May 12, 2012 - Met with our case worker that will be doing our independent home study

April 9, 2012 - Decided to put everything on "hold" and look into independent adoption

April 5, 2012 - Mailed in our paperwork for our home study

March 20, 2012 - Received our paperwork for our home study! Here we go! ;-)

March 12, 2012 - Adoption Application accepted

February 18, 2012 - Preliminary Application accepted

January 2011 - Chose an adoption agency to go through

December 2011 - Made the decision to adopt from Uganda!

December 2010 - My first trip to Uganda - I was forever changed and knew we had to do something about the orphan crisis. Maybe sponsor an orphan? Give towards a ministry that is doing orphan care in Uganda. Adoption was not on our radar.

Friday, February 15, 2013 - "Show the Love: One Less Orphan in Uganda" Zumba-thon at Fit For Her in Owasso led by the lovely and talented Lara Myers!

Week of February 4, 2013 - We've been selected to be the featured family of the week on Give1Save1: Africa! :-D

Saturday, February 2, 2013 - Fundraiser Breakfast at Baja Jacks (9-11 a.m.); 25% of sales goes towards our adoption! Hope to see you there!

January 2013 - On-line garage sale

September - December 2012: Fill a baby bottle with change! (Led by friends Kati & Nicole)
